MISSION STATEMENT
As a practicing cardiologist at The Chattanooga Heart Institute,
I see patients daily who have concerns and a deep desire for knowledge. They
want control. They tell me that the available books are too long, too
complicated, or too difficult to read. To fill this important need, I have written Matters
of the Heart, a layman's guide to understanding and preventing heart disease.
It is my hope that this book will help prevent much cardiovascular disease and guide
people toward treatment where disease already exists. I'd like to see doctors give
this book to their patients. I'd like to see industry and health insurers make this
available to help individuals prevent disease and identify problems, thus enabling money
to be saved. This book could also be a foundation for those without a medical
background, enabling them to understand other more complicated references if they so
chose.
